Which Planet is biggest?
The fifth planet from the Sun is Jupiter and it is definitely the biggest thing in the Solar System, other than the Sun.
If you were to combined all of the planets together, Jupiter is still 2.5 times larger in size.
Jupiter appears to be mostly made of gas and is known as one of the ‘Gas Giants’ in our Solar System. It is famous for its ‘Great Red Spot’ which is a huge storm that has been raging for at least 350 years. The storm is so big you could fit three of the planet Earth inside it.
Jupiter has 67 moons that orbit around it including Io, Europa, Callisto and Ganymede. Each of these are a very distinctly different world. Io is very volcanic, Europa is covered in ice; Callisto is covered in craters; and Ganymede is the largest moon in the Solar System and is bigger than the planet Mercury.
Jupiter is named after the King of the Roman Gods – and it really is the King of our Solar System.
